| About The Mars' Trio |
The Mars' Trio Met in 2004 at the University of South Florida where they were all studying Jazz. At that time, the group consiststed of Alejandro Arenas on Bass, Mark Feinman on the drums, and Richard Van Voorst on saxophones. The group began by just practicing with each other for the purpose of researching, studying, and learning the music, but soon a passion sparked among the members as the discovered the freedom and adventurous nature that exists in the acoustic trio orchestration. The trio found itself in high demand and thus has solidified itself as a working band in the greater Tampa Bay area as well as developing into a passionate artistic endeavor for the members. In August of 2007, Steve Davis (www.stevedavisdrums.com) stepped into the drum chair and the group took a new turn. While still keeping the original principals of the group intact, the artistry as well as a different approach that Steve brought to the table, took the group in new directions in improvisation, interaction, as well as some new and interesting repertoire.
The Group Performs many different styles of music from Be Bop, Hard Bop, and Modern Jazz, to playing show tunes, and even the occasional Pop or Classical tune with a Jazz twist. You might hear music from Cole Porter and Rogers and Hammerstein, to Miles Davis and Chick Corea, or even the Police as well as many original compositions.
The Mars' Trio plays clubs, weddings private parties, cocktail parties, formal concerts, festivals, etc. and will tailor the music to meet the needs of any occasion.
The Mars' Trio is a proponent of new music and welcomes original compositions and arrangements from any composers desiring to have their music performed.
